Lapis Lazuli

Lapis Lazuli is one of the oldest gemstones being cherished and admired from around 4,000 B.C. It was used in armour, sculpture, jewellery and crushed into powder for dyes, makeup (Cleopatra is believed to have used Lapis Lazuli eye-shadows), ultramarine paint (a favourite of Michelangelo and Vermeer) as well as medicinal elixirs.

Lapis is one of the few gemstones that is a rock rather than a mineral. It’s colour and texture come from the combination of three minerals: lazurite, calcite and pyrite.

This stone activates the psychic centres at the Brow Chakra (Third Eye) and balances the energies of the Throat Chakra. Lapis Lazuli is a crystal of truth, it encourages self-awareness and self-acceptance, helping the wearer to maximize personal growth.

Lapis Lazuli is used in healing ear and nasal passages. It is beneficial to the throat, vocal chords and is believed to relieve migraines.
