Turquoise Mountain

Turquoise Mountain are a foundation established in Afghanistan in 2006 by HM King Charles III, to revive historic areas and traditional Afghan crafts, to provide jobs, skills and a renewed sense of pride, instead of charity.

Since then, they have trained thousands of artisans, restored or rebuilt 150 historic buildings in the old city of Kabul and set up a local primary school and family health clinic serving almost 25,000 patients last year alone.

Traditionally handmade

Every piece is made by hand, using traditional practices and set with Lapis Lazuli, the ancient gemstone of Afghanistan. Its name means “stone from heaven” and has been associated with strength and courage, royalty and wisdom, intellect and truth.

Additionally, to complement the Lapis blue, we have used the semi-precious gemstones that soothe, calm and inspire.

Supporting artisans

The Turquoise Mountain Institute for Afghan Arts and Architecture aims to educate a new generation in Afghanistan's traditional crafts.

They have trained thousands of artisans and builders in practices such as jewellery and gem-cutting, calligraphy, painting, ceramics, and woodwork.
