Turquoise Mountain are a foundation established in Afghanistan in 2006 by HM King Charles III, to revive historic areas and traditional Afghan crafts, to provide jobs, skills and a renewed sense of pride, instead of charity.
Since then, they have trained thousands of artisans, restored or rebuilt 150 historic buildings in the old city of Kabul and set up a local primary school and family health clinic serving almost 25,000 patients last year alone.
The Turquoise Mountain Institute for Afghan Arts and Architecture aims to educate a new generation in Afghanistan's traditional crafts. They have trained thousands of artisans and builders in practices such as jewellery and gem-cutting, calligraphy, painting, ceramics, and woodwork.
