WHO WE ARE
Ottoman Hands was founded in London in 2010 by Deniz Gurdal.
Inspired by her Turkish heritage, she started designing jewellery in her bedroom and selling them at a market stall on Portobello road. As demand grew, she soon discovered a small independent workshop in Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar that could help bring her designs to life.
Ottoman Hands was inspired by the hands of the artisans that create our unique jewellery. We still work with the same artisans to this day to create handmade, sustainable jewellery, inspired by antique designs with a contemporary twist.

Our Story
Named after the artisans who handcraft our unique jewellery in our Istanbul workshop, Ottoman Hands was founded by Deniz Gurdal, who started the brand at London’s iconic Portobello Road market in 2010. Since then, she has supported independent workshops and the use of recycled metals for every piece created. Deniz’s signature Evil Eye designs and antique-inspired jewellery are what Ottoman Hands is best known for.
Every Ottoman Hands piece is handcrafted with gold-plated recycled brass or recycled sterling silver. Our jewellery is handset with semi-precious gemstones using modern artisanal techniques, making each piece authentic and timeless.
