Smoky Quartz

Smoky Quartz is considered a national gemstone of Scotland, a belief dating back to Druids. Used widely in ancient times, due to it’s soft, easy to cut and shape texture, Smokey Quartz antiquates, like Roman carved intaglio seals, Egyptian beads and scarab figures and Chinese snuff bottles, have been discovered all over the world. As the Sumerians invented writing, Quartz was one of the first gemstone materials to be written on and to be used as a stamp to make written impressions in clay.

Smokey Quartz comes in a beautiful variety of hues: from pale and wispy, like smoke, to rich and brown, like cognac. This mineral is believed to have a strong connection with Mother Earth. It is a talisman of the Root Chakra, drawing light energy from the Crown down through the body and rooting it into the physical plane. It is a protective and grounding stone, dissipating emotional and environmental negativity and bringing strength and stability.

Smoky Quartz is often used as a healing crystal to alleviates cramps, headaches, back pains and muscular spasms. It regulates liquids within the body and helps to remove toxins. If held Smokey Quartz is believed to relieve tension, stress and anxiety. It wards off negative thinking and eliminates worry and doubt.
